Our Verein (Club) performs many energetic dances from Bavaria and Austria. The dances are called Schuhplattler (Shoe slapping dances), Figurentänze (Figure dances) and Volkstänze (Folk dances).
We
also do Occupational Dances from
that era. These dances show off the various occupations that where prevalent at
the time.
They are crowd pleasers but they do need the proper setting and conditions to
perform. Everyone loves to see
Goaßlschnalzen (Whip Snapping).
If the it is appropriate we will do a tasteful audience-participation dance. We never try to embarrass our hosts, we just help them get into the spirit. The Entetanz (Chicken Dance) and Auftanz (March) are always crowd favorites.
